Creating bootable ISO media from DVD containing Windows Server 2012 R2 setup files and folder

I received a DVD containing Windows Server 2012 R2 setup files and folder. Instead of burning ISO directly, they burnt the setup files which makes no sense. I needed a bootable ISO DVD so that I can install it on a VM.

I used a Microsoft command-line utility tool oscdimg. I basically created a folder c:\Downloads and saved the oscdming.exe. created two more folders under C:\Downloads\W2K12R2 and C:\Downloads\W2K12R2ISO. I copied all the setup files and folder under C:\Downloads\W2K12R2.

Ran the following command.

oscdimg -o -u2 -bc:\Downaloads\W2K12R2\boot\etfsboot.com c:\Downloads\W2K12R2 c:\Downloads\W2K12ISO\W2K12R2.iso -m
